As of December 10, 2018, 164 countries signed the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) at a conference in Marrakech, Morocco. The UN General Assembly also endorsed the compact on December 19, 2018, with 152 countries voting in favor, 5 voting against, and 12 abstaining. The countries that voted against were Hungary, Israel, Poland, the Czech Republic, and the United States. The countries that abstained were Algeria, Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Chile, Italy, Latvia, Libya, Liechtenstein, Romania, Singapore, and Switzerland.
