The Etruscans did influence Rome and potentially even lived in the city. Some historians believe Rome's early kings were Etruscan, and the city was likely under Etruscan rule for a period. Etruscans were a powerful civilization that dominated much of Italy before the rise of Rome, and their influence on Roman culture and institutions is significant.


Etruscan Influence on Early Rome:

Archaeological evidence and historical accounts suggest that Etruscans played a significant role in the development of Rome. Some scholars believe that Rome was founded by Etruscans, and that many of its early kings were Etruscan rulers.


Etruscan Rule:

There is evidence suggesting that Rome was under Etruscan rule for a period, with Etruscan kings reigning over the city. This period of Etruscan dominance is believed to have been a significant formative influence on Rome's early development.


The Roman Republic:

The Roman Republic eventually overthrew the Etruscan monarchy in 509 BCE and established its own republic.


Vatika was an Etruscan goddess associated with the underworld, birth, and fertility. She is believed to have given her name to the Vatican. While her exact role is debated, some theorize she could have been a goddess of good luck, abundance, or even bodies of water.


Etruscan Mythology:

Vatika was a deity within the Etruscan pantheon, a civilization that inhabited ancient Italy.

Association with the Underworld:

She was linked to the underworld, suggesting a connection to death and the afterlife, as well as birth and fertility.

The Vatican City State was founded on February 11, 1929. The city has a population of around 840 and an area of approximately 108 acres (44 hectares).


The Vatican is a symbol of the Roman Catholic faith. Its power and influence on religious people cannot be denied, and the Holy See's authority extends over Catholics worldwide.
